As of November 2022, almost 80% of our Singaporean office spaces are certified green!
That means that over 69 million square feet of office space on our little island is environmentally-friendly and is on a sustainable path to the future. This comes after the amendment of the Green Mark requirements over the past year, where many buildings fell below the mark.

How Green Have We Gone?
In that 80%, almost half of these BCA Green Mark-certified buildings have successfully obtained the coveted, top-tier Platinum rating.
For example, certified office buildings in Central Business District include Marina One, Asia Square Tower 1 and 2, 79 Robinson Road, Afro-Asia, Guoco Tower, and Frasers Tower. There are also a number of buildings such as Bugis Junction Towers, Ngee Ann City, The Metropolis, Lazada One and more.
Based on local BCA standards, these Platinum-certified buildings can potentially achieve over 30% more energy savings compared to a non-Green Mark building.
The Road Ahead
Moving forward, the Singapore Green Plan 2030 has already set its goals to grow Singapore’s sustainability over the next ten years. This potentially may change the way that we, its people, live, work and play for the rest of our lives.
The updated guidelines in 2021 also emphasises on other sustainability outcomes, such as designing around the theme of environmentally-friendly – future projects should be able to reduce embodied carbon and maintain its energy performance. This will further improve the environment as well as our people’s health.
At this moment, our country is in a perfect position to carry out Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across the world. As a result, we can anticipate that more office buildings in Singapore will appeal to increasingly sophisticated and environmentally conscious occupiers worldwide.
